What is Prefetch?

Windows creates .pf files to speed up application startup. These files contain information about recently executed programs, including:

• Executable name and path
• Command line arguments
• File access patterns
• Execution count and timestamps

Location: C:\Windows\Prefetch\

Security Note: Prefetch files can indicate recent program execution even if other evidence is cleared.
